Features

Here is a list of some of the features that we work into all of our furniture.

Standard Features  Style  Desk Tops  Desk Base Cabinets  Desk Options  Trim  Hinges

Dovetail Drawers: Cabinet drawers utlize the classic Dovetail Joint for strength and beauty.
Mortise & Tenon Construction: Mortise is a fancy name for a groove in the side of a piece of wood. A Tenon is a finger on the end of another piece of wood that slips into the mortise on the first piece. This allows more surface area for glue and makes a much stronger joint than a simple butt joint. All frames around raised and flat panels on doors and end panels are mortise & tenon costruction.
Raised Panels: Raised Panels are both functional and beautiful. Solid wood expands and contracts depending on the humidity of the air. Raised Panels are designed to expand and contract within a groove in the surrounding frame. This keeps the overall size of the door or end panel constant while relieving stress in the wood.
Flat Panels: Similar in function to Raised Panels, but with a smooth look. Typically made from 1/4" solid core veneer. Poplular with Shaker Style furniture.
Soft Close Drawer Slides: Hidden Undermount Drawer Slides. These are quiet, smooth drawer slides that feature a spring that automatically closes the drawer the last 1" or so. There is also a hydraulic cylinder that counters the spring so that the drawer does not slam. Indispensible for sneaking that chocolate without the spouse hearing you. Not that I would know anything about sneaking chocolate. Uh, nevermind.
Traditional Style: Raised Panels on the sides, Simple Base Molding, Ogee Edge on Doors and Drawers. Kind of our default if nothing else is specified.
Shaker Style: Shaker style furniture is characterized by simplicity. Smooth lines, tapered legs, smooth dowels, round wood knobs are all typical Shaker elements. Some overlapping with Mission style.
Mission Style: Similar to Shaker styling in that it has simple straight lines and arches. Usually has open vertical slats integrated along with flat panels. Knobs / Pulls are typically the hand forged look.
Queen Anne Style: Typically incorporates the Cabriole Leg, (A form of furniture leg that curves outward and then narrows downward into an ornamental foot). Compound curves are typcial on cabinet tops, sometimes along with Pediment turnings. Cathedral arched Raised Panel Doors.
Country French Style: Legs similar to Queen Anne, but with a square cross-section. Flat panels on doors and side panels, sometimes arched at top.
Victorian Style: Modified Cabrielle base, Onlayed Carvings, Cathedral Doors, etc.

Keyboard / Printer Kneehole: Incorporates printer storage into the kneehole area. Center Drawer front tips down and Keyboard / Mouse tray pulls out. Drawer slides have a lock-out feature that keeps your keyboard from sliding back into the cabinet as you type. Printer sits on a recessed pullout shelf so that it is out of the way when not in use. Slide it forward when you need access. This uses the wasted space in the back of the desk and frees up space on your desktop or inside Desk Pedestal where your printer usually sits.
Student Desk Base: Desk base which has 4 legs and lap drawer.
End Panel: End panel for smaller desks.
Easy Cord Access: Housing your computer components inside a cabinet can be a pain when it comes to hooking everything up - until now. All of our cabinets which house computer components feature a removable Raised Panel on the side. Now you can access the back of your computer tower, printer, scanner, etc. without reaching blindly. Pedestals also feature cord access hole into kneehole area and out the top of the back through the heat vent.
Heat Vent Fan: Heat is the #1 enemy of your computer. We mount an exhaust fan at the top of each pedestal which houses a Computer Tower. This pulls fresh air in through the gaps in the gaps between the fake drawer fronts, over your computer and out the back. The fan plugs into the USB port on your computer so that it turns on whenever you computer is on. The fans also put off a soft blue glow which is handy when you are trying to plug everything into the back of your Tower.
Flat Panel Back: Back of the desk is stained and finished like the rest of the desk. Flat panels are used instead of raised panels. This is fine for normal use when the desk is up against a wall, but consider the Raised Panel back if the desk may ever be used as a room divider
Raised Panel Back: Raised panels on the back of the desk to match the end panels and kneehole area. Great way to finish off the desk.
Integrated Media Access: Fake drawer front opens to reveal an external CD/DVD drive, 2 USB ports, and a 6-in-1 Memory Card Reader. Simply plug into the USB port on your computer and it is ready to go. You can remove use the CD drive currently in your computer and install it in this unit or you can have us supply a new CD/DVD burner pre-installed in the unit, (extra cost for bre-installed CD/DVD burner - contact us for details).
Secret Compartment: It Is large enough to hold a ream of paper, (or quite a few bars of chocolate,) easily accessed, (when the craving hits,) but if you do not know it is there you will not find it. I could tell you where the secret compartment is located. but then I would have to kill you. :-) Just kidding. Come visit our showroom and we will let you find it yourself. You didn't think I would blab our secret to everybody on the web did you? OK, if you cannot visit our showroom, give us a call or e-mail and we will spill the beans. I am getting soft in my old age.
Custom Interior: Change around drawers, openings, envelope slots, doors.. Make the work area as unique as your work habits.
PO Lock Box: Old Fashioned Post Office box with combination lock.

Side Tambour Lock: Keyed Push lock on the side of the rolltop that locks the tambour in the closed position.
Center Tambour Lock: Traditional Skeleton Key lock mortised into the Tambour with decorative front plate. Catch is mortised into desktop.
Corner Fold Down Work Areas: Great space saver. When not in use the entire work area is hidden inside the cabinet. When it is time to go to work the door on side of cabinet opens, a simple pivot latch is released, and the table and legs fold down ironing-board style. Once the table has been folded down the table can be opened again into a 22" x 33" work area. With both tables opened you have a large L-shape work area. When work is done, just fold the table back up, the pivot catch automatically holds the table in the stored position, and shut the door. Now your office just disapeared into a beautiful corner cabinet.
Corner Armoire Computer Storage: Hide all the computer stuff away. The Monitor is behind the center wrap-around doors. Keyboard pullout is behind the base doors. The computer Tower sits parallel to the wall in either the base cabinet behind the door or the upper cabinet behind the fold-down work area.
